Dear Senator Klobuchar:
Subject: Please Support the Broadcaster Freedom Act (S. 34/H.R. 226), and
try to prohibit Senator Stabenow from conducting any hearings on the Fairness
Doctrine
I am writing to ask you to do whatever you can to make certain that Senator
Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) has no involvement in any Senate debates over the
so-called Fairness Doctrine. The Senator has a conflict of interests. Her
husband is a failed liberal talk show programming executive who could benefit
from the reinstitution of this badly flawed policy from the late 1970s. He
has failed twice to get liberal talk shows to be viable on radio.
I am also asking you to Support the Broadcaster Freedom Act and resist any
attempts to reinstitute the so-called Fairness Doctrine. The "Fairness Doctrine"
would destroy conservative talk radio. If conservative radio and TV stations
were required to give free time to liberals to respond on talk shows that
Christian and other conservatives pay for, they wouldn't be able to afford
to comply, and these shows would be off the air.
Today, there is more than enough diversity of opinion via broadcast, satellite,
and cable. Every viewpoint is being aired. No one is denied a voice. The
claim that there isn't enough diversity is clearly false. All of the major
TV networks (with the exception of Fox News) are dominated by liberals. Liberals
dominate all major newspapers. NPR is dominated by liberals, as are public
television networks. The liberal view is everywhere.
Liberals admit to using the Fairness Doctrine to silence critics of the Johnson
and Kennedy Administrations in the 1960s. This is the underlying goal of
liberals today: they want to censor the opposing viewpoint. The "Fairness
Doctrine" would be used to silence Christian and other conservative talk
radio.
I look forward to receiving a reply with your views on this.
Sincerely,
[Signature]
