March for Life or Rally for Life

Every year, on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, tens of thousands gather in Washington D.C., and thousands more across the United States participate in local rallies, marches, and prayer services on or near that date. It's estimated that over 100,000 joined in Washington on January 22, 2009. More than 30,000 turned out for the 2009 Walk for Life West Coast on January 24. Almost 5,000 rallied in St. Paul, Minnesota on January 22. The EWTN television coverage of the DC and West Coast marches captured the enthusiasm of everyone involved and the sincerity and determination of the many speakers. Unfortunately, those tapings aren't available online, so next year, if you can't participate in person, try to watch the marches on EWTN. The photos and other reports below, though, will give you a taste of these inspiring events.

Check with the pro-life organization in your state and with your diocesan pro-life/respect-life coordinator for upcoming events in your area. Your diocese may have information about an ecumenical prayer service to take place before a given event starts -- information not necessarily posted at the web site for the pro-life organization in your state.
