March for Life or Rally for Life
Every year, on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, tens of thousands gather in
Washington D.C., and thousands more across the United States participate
in local rallies, marches, and prayer services on or near that date. It's
estimated that over 100,000 joined in Washington on January 22, 2009. More
than 30,000 turned out for the 2009 Walk for Life West Coast on January 24.
Almost 5,000 rallied in St. Paul, Minnesota on January 22. The EWTN television
coverage of the DC and West Coast marches captured the enthusiasm of everyone
involved and the sincerity and determination of the many speakers. Unfortunately,
those tapings aren't available online, so next year, if you can't participate
in person, try to watch the marches on EWTN. The photos and other reports
below, though, will give you a taste of these inspiring events.
Check with the pro-life
organization in your state and with
your diocesan
pro-life/respect-life coordinator for upcoming events in your area. Your
diocese may have information about an ecumenical prayer service to take place
before a given event starts -- information not necessarily posted at the
web site for the pro-life organization in your state.

The 36th Annual March for Life will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2009,
at 12 noon, on the Mall, Washington, D.C. This year's theme: "REMEMBER --
the Life Principles mean "Equal Care" with No Exceptions!" ... "This
theme is an important simple prolife message that the intentional killing
of even one innocent preborn human is never licit or justified and is never
necessary because America can and must provide equal care for both
a pregnant mother and her preborn child -- with no exception!" You
may also attend the Convention, on Wednesday the 21st, and the annual Rose
Dinner, on Thursday night the 22nd.

what will be the thirty-sixth anniversary of the infamous Roe v. Wade Supreme
Court decision that allowed abortions for any reason throughout pregnancy."
... "With Obama becoming president on a Tuesday, the expectation is that
the March will come either one or two days after he signs an executive order
rescinding the Mexico City Policy. That's the Bush administration rule protecting
taxpayers from having to fund groups that perform or promote abortions in
other nations. The March could be the first chance to respond to the expected
Obama decision." ... "... the pro-life movement needs to have "the largest
March ever, to combat Obama and FOCA."

pro-abortion bill. ..."
