Help with Burning Video DVDs (DVD-Video)

Your Options Regarding Flash Files

I don't know much about flash video, but I want to share a few things in case they help:

In the Downloads from Mary area, I offer from DivShare, videos in WMV (Windows Media Video) format to make it easier for you to burn the videos to DVD-Video.

But those downloads are zipped, so you can't preview the videos. Therefore, if possible, I also provide a link to the site where I found a given video so that you can watch the video online. Sometimes that video is in flash (FLV) format. Though you can watch a flash video online, you may not be able to save it to your computer.

Even if you can download a flash video, if you want to burn it to DVD-Video, I think that you need to do one of the following three things (correct me if I'm wrong):

  • Convert the flash video to WMV format yourself, and then burn it to DVD-video;

  • Or, use Replay Converter to burn the flash video directly to a DVD that you should be able to play in a DVD player;

  • Or, use some other special program, if there is one, that can burn flash video directly to DVD-Video (as far as I know, most regular disc-burning software can't burn flash to DVD-Video).

So, if you want to burn a video to DVD-video, and if you don't want to do one of the above three steps, then download my WMV version rather than a flash version at a viewing site.
