Reasons You Might Want to Purchase Nero 7
I wrote this when Nero 8 was the latest version of Nero.
Here are some reasons that you might want to purchase Nero 7 rather than
Nero 8:
-
Unless you have high-definition equipment (Blu-ray), you won't be able to
appreciate the HD video features in Nero 8. And unless you've installed a
special capture card (hardware) on your computer, you won't be able to appreciate
the video capturing features in Nero 8. Other than those two features, the
only other difference in Nero 8 is in appearance (it's not a big deal but
I'm told that getting to a often-used start menu is an extra click away in
Nero 8);
-
Depending on the size of your hard drive, this point isn't necessarily important:
If you're going to purchase Nero, you might want to purchase Nero 7 rather
than Nero 8, because Nero 7 (about 1 GB installed) will take up less space
on your hard drive than will Nero 8 (about 1.2 GB installed);
-
Further (and again, depending on the size of your hard drive, this point
isn't necessarily important), if you purchase Nero 7, you can legally install
via the Nero 7.10.1.0 Ultra Edition executable from me, instead of via the
executable that comes with your purchase of Nero 7. The executable from me
is about 491 MB installed, possibly less than half the size of a typical
Nero 7 installation. The executable from me is a full version, with all the
Nero 7 features. It's smaller when installed only because it's an English-only
version. (You'll need your purchased key/serial number to use my executable.
Just e-mail me after you've purchased Nero 7, and I'll e-mail you back with
the link to this download);
-
You can use the Nero 7.10.1.0 Ultra Edition executable from me, because if
you purchase Nero, you are allowed to use your registration key (serial number)
for any sub-version within the main version that you purchased. That is,
if you purchase Nero 7, you can use your registration key (serial number)
with any version of Nero 7, and if you purchase Nero 8, you can use
your registration key (serial number) with any version of Nero 8, and so
forth. (The serial number for version 8 will not work for version 7, 6, or
5, and the serial number for version 7 will not work for version 8, 6, or
5, and so forth.)
-
You don't really have to follow the tech support recommendation to be sure
to use the latest update of your Nero version. If you ever need Nero e-mail
technical support, they may tell you to update to the latest version of your
version. And if you have a problem, and nothing else solves it, you can always
get that update for free. Otherwise, don't be intimidated: If your earlier
version works, it works.
-
Nero Customer Support says that there should always be free e-mail technical
support and re-download options for users who have purchased Nero 7 and earlier
versions, just as there are for purchasers of Nero 8;
-
I can attest to the excellence of Nero 7. My Nero 7.10.1.0 Ultra Edition
has worked great, consistently, since I installed it in May 2008;
-
I had no trouble purchasing Nero 7 from Dell.com. I received my download
link via e-mail within about fifteen minutes after completing the order.
Note: Nero.com no longer sells Nero 7. Apparently, Dell.com is the only remaining
authorized (legal) seller of Nero 7. There's no telling how much longer Dell
will sell Nero 7, and when Dell stops selling it, it may be impossible to
legally obtain Nero 7. I purchased from Dell only to obtain a legal key (serial
number), which I then used to install the smaller, English-only version of
Nero 7 that I had and that I'm happy to share with you;
-
You may not have the system requirements for Nero 8 (be sure to look at the
System Requirements for any version of Nero before you purchase it).
