Reasons You Might Want to Purchase Nero 8 or Later
I wrote this when Nero 8 was the latest version of Nero.
Here are some reasons that you might want to purchase Nero 8 instead of Nero
7:
-
Hard drive size isn't an issue for you. And besides, you don't want to get
the Nero 7.10.1.0 Ultra Edition executable from me, and the difference between
a more typical Nero 7 installation and a typical Nero 8 installation is only
about 204 KB. Also, it's possible that the installed program will actually
be significantly less than the 1.2 MB mentioned in the system requirements.
Perhaps, for example, during the installation process, you can opt to install
English only and that will make a big difference (my information to the contrary
could be wrong);
-
Your computer meets the system requirements for Nero 8, and if you're going
to purchase the software, you want the latest version;
-
You already have or might someday have the high-definition equipment and/or
the capture card (hardware) that can take advantage of some of the new features
in Nero 8;
-
Probably from time to time, the latest version of Nero will be less expensive
than Nero 7 is ever again likely to be. It's unlikely that Dell will ever
offer Nero 7 at a sale price. At the time of this writing, Nero.com was selling
the latest version of Nero for $59.99 plus tax; whereas, Dell.com was selling
Nero 7 for $79.99 plus tax;
-
You can get a fifteen-day free trial of the latest version of Nero (apparently,
there's no longer any free trial of Nero 7). The trial version of Nero 8
was a nearly fully functional copy of Nero 8. BDAV authoring and playback
as well as AVCHD and MPEG-4 formats were not supported with the trial
version:
