Downloading from DivShare
I'm using a file-storage-and-sharing site, DivShare.com, to host the downloads
offered in the Downloads from Mary
area. When you click on the audio or video file that you want in the
Downloads from Mary area, that will
take you to the DivShare download page for that file. It's easy to download
from DivShare.
At DivShare...
-
To start the download process, do one of the following:
-
If it's a zip file, click on Download this file;
-
Or, if it isn't a zip file, select the file if there's more than one listed
on the page (there's a musical note by each file), and click on Download
Original;
-
If you see the words Skip ad, double-click on that link.
-
If you're using Internet Explorer, you may get an Information Bar
message with the heading Did you notice the Information Bar? If you
get that message, do the following:
-
Click OK on that window. (it's safe; all files that I've uploaded
to DivShare have been scanned by me for viruses and other malware);
-
Click on the following message in your browser's toolbar:
To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from
downloading files to your computer. Click here for options...
-
Click on Download File;
-
When you're asked whether you want to run or save the file, click on the
Save button;
-
When you get to the Save As dialogue box, look near the top where
it says, Save in;
-
Click on the little down arrow at the end of that Save in slot, and
browse to a folder in which you want to save the file or in which you want
to create a new folder for the file;
-
If you want to create a new folder for the download file, click on the
Create New Folder icon (which is one of the little icons to the right
of the Save in slot), and type a name for the new folder;
-
Click on the folder prepared for the download (to open the folder);
-
Click on the Save button.
Avoiding DivShare Advertising
At DivShare...
-
Ignore the link Download up to 10X faster with no advertising. It's
just advertising;
-
If you ever see the words, Skip ad, double-click on that link.
-
If any advertising window appears that you can close by clicking on the
X in the upper-right corner, click on that X.
Using the DivShare Player and Playlist
At DivShare...
-
At pages where you can download individual MP3s (one's that aren't in zip
files), a little DivShare player also appears that you can use to listen
to files instead of saving them to your computer;
-
The player appears above the file(s) for download;
-
Each of the files for download has a musical note next to it. The files in
the player don't have a musical note next to them.
-
[If you just want to save the audio file(s) to your computer, you don't need
to do anything with the player.]
-
The DivShare player doesn't always display properly with the AOL browser.
If you want to use the DivShare player to listen online, you may want to
use Internet Explorer or another browser other than AOL;
-
Click once on the DivShare player to activate it, then click on the player's
right-pointing arrow to start the player. In play, click on the player's
double vertical lines to stop the player;
-
If there's only one file offered on a download page, the DivShare player
will not display a playlist in the player. In that case, just click on the
player's right-pointing arrow to play the audio file.
-
If there's more than one file offered on a download page, the DivShare
player will display a playlist in the player;
-
If there's a playlist in the player, the file that's highlighted in the player
is the one that will play when you press the right-pointing arrow. If two
files appear highlighted, the one that is slightly darker blue is the one
that is selected for play;
-
To select a different file for play, in the player's playlist, click on the
file that you want to listen to, then click on the player's right-pointing
arrow;
-
To scroll the playlist, click on the player's up and down arrows, or hold
and drag (up or down) the black button on the player's vertical scroll bar,
which is between the player's up and down arrows.
-
Be patient while the file loads before it can start playing. Larger files
take several seconds to load, even with a high-speed connection.
