Help with ZIP Files
How to Open a ZIP File in Windows XP or Vista
In Windows XP and Vista, you can open a ZIP file without additional software.
To open a ZIP file in Windows XP, do one of the following two things:
-
Right-click on the ZIP file, click on Extract or Extract All,
and follow the prompts of the extract wizard.
-
Or, click on the ZIP file to open to an unzipped subfolder, and copy that
unzipped folder or its contents to a location outside of the ZIP file. Use
the Windows Explorer method
for copying a folder, or do the following:
-
Click on the Start button;
-
Click on My Documents;
-
Browse to the ZIP file;
-
Click on the ZIP file to open it;
-
In the left pane, click on the File and Folder Tasks button to open
that menu;
-
In the File and Folder Tasks menu, click on Copy this folder;
-
In the Copy Items dialogue box, browse to the place that you want
to copy the folder to;
-
Click on the Copy button.
After you've extracted the contents of a ZIP file or copied the contents
of a ZIP file to a location outside of the ZIP file, you can delete the ZIP
file.
